Around 50% of children in foster care have some form of special educational need. Most of them are navigating a system that was not designed with them in mind and most of the adults caring for them are doing so without the specialist knowledge that system demands.
That is not a criticism of carers or agencies. It is a structural gap. The care framework and the education framework operate largely in parallel, and the expertise needed to bridge them is rarely built into agency support structures in any meaningful way.
Beyond the Timetable exists to close that gap.
We are independent SEND specialists with over 45 years of combined experience across mainstream schools, specialist provisions, and special schools. Consultancy — An independent expert view on complex or stuck cases, caseload audits, diagnostic reviews of agency systems, and a retained advisory service for agencies that want ongoing access to specialist expertise.
Training — Bespoke training for agency staff and foster carers, built around what your agency and your carers actually need rather than an off-the-shelf programme.
