Speech and Language Therapy
A health service supporting children with speech, language, and communication difficulties. SALT is one of the most frequently named provisions in EHCPs and is commonly involved in assessments. In practice, SALT services are often significantly oversubscribed, and the provision named in an EHCP may not always match what NHS services can currently deliver. Parents can raise concerns about SALT provision at Annual Reviews, and the duty on the LA to ensure named provision is delivered remains regardless of NHS capacity.
