The section of an EHCP that describes a child’s special educational needs — what the child finds difficult and why. Section B is important because the provision set out in Section F must be matched to the needs described in Section B. If Section B is vague or incomplete, it can weaken the child’s entitlement to specific support. Parents have the right to challenge the content of Section B and should read it carefully when a draft plan is issued.
