SENCo

Special Educational Needs Coordinator

The member of staff in a school responsible for coordinating support for children with SEND. Every school must have a SENCo, who is a qualified teacher. The SENCo is the key point of contact for parents concerned about their child’s additional needs. In larger schools, the SENCo may have a team; in smaller schools, the SENCo may also be a class teacher or member of senior leadership.
